Bullitt Central High School 20 YR Reunion
Stories
Hello!

I look forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.  Thanks, Chris, for organizing everything.  I am very proud to say that I have two sons, Alex and Benjamin, who are making straight A's in 8th grade and 5th grade.  They both love to play soccer and my mom teaches them piano.  We are going to try to get Alex in the Gatton Academy for math and science down at Western.  It was rated the number 1 high school in the U.S.  My husband is Juan Pena, who is originally from Mexico and works for the KY Commission on Human Rights.  If you feel like you have been discriminated against in terms of gender, age, national origin, etc.  in employment , housing or public accomodations, you can get his work number and call him.   I used to volunteer at the boys' schools and interpret for a clinic but now I am working at Centro Latino, a non-profit that gives out food, clothes, and does GED and English classes and advocacy.  I am teaching GED math and social studies in Spanish!  Juan and I met each other at Berea College, where the tuition is free!  He got his Master's in Connecticut later.  I would like to get my Master's some day if I can.  We have traveled to Niagra Falls and to visit the 'primos' (cousins) in Arkansas and my boys are going to Alaska this summer to visit my sister who just got married.  Can't wait to catch up with you all!

Who i am.

Hi Guys,

I'm really looking forward to the reunion and seeing everybody. I have mixed feeling about it. I am nervous that most people won't remember me or simply won't care that I am there and scared that people will and that I am the same person I was in high school.

Neither of these things will stop the driving force that is me. I've become a strong, independent, professional, educated woman. The last years of high school were difficult as I was 'trying to find my way". I attend elementary school through the 6th grade will you guys but then we moved for a period to SpencerCounty. It was here that I flourished and grew in my personal relationships (clichés if you will) only then to be uprooted again and moved back where I started in the last part of the 10th grade. It was awkward to see people that I had been friends with in elementary school, who didn't know me in high school. Strange to be back with people who I knew but didn't know me or have an interest in knowing me. I managed but have never really felt close to most of my classmates at Bullitt Central.

As an adult I’m ready to forget all those times and forge new friendships with my classmates. I'm a very out-going person, don't be surprised if I show up tonight and start chatting you up.

The event tonight sounds like such fun. Thanks Chris for all your hard work. YOU ARE THE MAN!

Much love Class of 94.

Save me a boogie!

P.S. Anyone have any contact info on Michael Ramburger (spelling)? He was my first crush and I’m curious where he is and what he's doing.

Can people move beyond grudges they held in high school?

Undoubtedly, there were a few people that you simply couldn't stand in high school.  Either they picked on you, you didn't like the way they acted or dressed, they stole your girlfriend, you got in a fight with them or they just rubbed you the wrong way.  Maybe they felt the same way about you and maybe there were still other people who felt that way about you and you had no idea.  So my question now is, what do you think you would feel if you met them again?

For me, I can think of a few people that fit that description and I admit that I'm actually looking forward to meeting them again.  I know that I have matured significantly since those high school days and I assume they have as well.  I view this as a chance to start fresh.  Maybe I'll find that I have more in common with those people now than I would have guessed and I'm genuinely interested in finding out.  Even if we don't have anything in common, I think it would be cool to see how they contribute to society now.  Are they a lawyer, doctor, fireman, nurse, family man, loving mother, etc?

I also hope anyone who felt that way about me in high school would give me the same opportunity to start off on better footing.

There is a LinkedIn group for Bullitt Central graduates for those interested

I find it is an easy way to keep in touch with people as their jobs, addresses, phone numbers and emails change.  It's basically like FaceBook but with a business focus.
